When in business it is common to get complacent. How did you hear about us? That is a question salesmen are asking less and less now.
I have been asked if I felt working in law enforcement was a waste of time prior to becoming a business owner (seeing as it creates few work skills outside of its industry). There are many times I have felt that segment of my life was a waste of time because it has nothing to do with what I do now.
Recently we made an acquaintance with a man named Richard from https://honeydotools.com/ ( they rent pressure washers, generators and other tools near Pearland Texas) and he has been networking with us for the past few months.
I realized that my time working at the Kemah Police Department wasn’t really a waste of time in a sense.
I would eat breakfast with Bennett Thomas from Kemah PD back when we worked there. And sometimes this guy Damon would join us and eat. Damon and Bennett were in the military together and went a long way back.
Richard called me and I asked where he heard about me? He advised Damon gave him my number.
This is the origin of a lead. Working for the Kemah Police Department and it was through an acquaintance made there.
So my answer is law enforcement was not a waste of time. I have gained acquaintances from everywhere because of my work history and the places I have been. That is usually the best lead origin when starting a new business, is who you know from before you began.
Consider the origin of your leads, and that is where you'll find your value.
